Occupy Wall Street

What would a change in the legal definition of a corporation actually look like, that would prioritize service to the citizens and government instead of the government and citizens serving corporations? Declaration of the Occupation of New York City

  1. The balance shifted when the government legalized corporations as "people. " People form governments, not vice versa. Will the Supreme Court next say that corporations can register and vote? I think it's time for someone who has a small company to register their company to vote!

  2. (JT via FB) Or it could go the other direction and people will have to incorporate themselves in order to vote.

  3. Well the definition of "incorporate " is to form a body. But humans are now handicapped bodies and corporations are bodies on steroids!

  4. RH via FB: Was just watching the "hippy" episode of South Park yesterday J__. All I could think about was you because the hippies kept complaining about the evil corporations. I think Cartman would've put you in the "college educated hippy" catagory.

  5. This is a very interesting talk - corporations and lobbyists really got going during the railroad era. RAILROADED | KQED

  6. And... like today, it was a war,the Civil War, that convinced the government to blow all the money on railroad tracks which at that point weren't really economically feasible. Interesting side note... the Chinese were trickling in due to treaties after the Opium War, but started major migration during the gold rush. Once here, they ended up working on the railroads. There was a riot in San Francisco - Chinatown was burned by the Irish who were pretty pissed that Chinese were working harder for less money than the Irish.
